Gary has over 30 years of international experience in the Construction Industry, spanning the UK, Ireland, Middle East and Australia. Gary's has held Quantity Surveying, Commercial Manager and Commercial Leadership roles in private practice and for small, medium and large construction companies. Gary has extensive experience in all areas of quantity surveying, including pre and post contract commercial management, procurement and tendering strategy, construction claims, dispute avoidance & resolution, and defects and warranty issues.

Residential


Alliance of DPTI, Laing O Stretching over 380 hectares, Jumeirah Park is an exclusive residential community encompassing over 3,000 luxury villas. Positioned behind Jumeirah Lake Towers while bordering the communities of Jumeirah Islands and The Meadows. The residential area is surrounded by eco-friendly parks and green spaces and was developed by Nakheel Properties.

Rail


Alliance of DPTI, Laing O'Rourke, AECOM and KBR undertook the separation of freight and passenger rail lines in metropolitan Adelaide. Included grade separation of three existing intersections and construction of three underpasses along the 1.5km of lowered railway.

Resources


The Kenya Water Treatment Plant (KWTP) is a facility located southwest of Chinchilla in Queensland that treats by-product water from coal seam gas (CSG) extraction for beneficial re-use. The plant uses ultrafiltration, ion exchange and reverse osmosis processes to remove contaminants and reduce salinity, supplying high-quality water to local agriculture and supplementing the town's drinking water supply. Now managed by Sunwater, the plant was a key part of the Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG) project and built by GE and Laing O'Rourke.

Renewables


In what was an Australian first, a 3MW solar photovoltaic (PV) facility was integrated with EDL’s existing 40MW power station at the South32 Cannington mine in north-west Queensland. The solar PV facility was the second largest to be installed at a remote mine in Australia, comprising 7,200 panels and covering an area of almost six hectares. The use of solar power enables South32 to prevent 4,000 to 6,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per year.

Defence


Air5428 delivered new pilot training infrastructure, taking a trainee from initial flight screening through to his or her entry into advanced fighter training courses. The key infrastructure was located at the RAAF Base at East Sale in Victoria, and RAAF Bases Pearce and Gin Gin in Western Australia, as well as related min or works in South Australia and New South Wales. The works involved the construction of new hangars, shelters, stores, classrooms, simulators and briefing rooms, accommodation and other base upgrades.

Airport


Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 comprised a 1 kilometre long x 80m wide six level concourse building, a six level below ground 20m deep terminal and baggage handling facilities, a three-level car park and a mosque. When opened, it was the largest building in the world by floor area, and one of the world's largest airport terminals with over 1,713,000m2 (18,440,000 sq ft) of space. It is capable of handling 43 million passengers per year.

Museum


The Royal Armouries Museum is a national museum holding the Nation al Collection of Arms and Armour and is part of the Royal Armouries family of museums. The museum itself was designed from the inside out, with collections arranged using a thematic structure over five galleries. The design included gallery space, collection study areas, conservation workshops, a library, craft areas and a tilting yard. The galleries housed over 6,000 objects in permanent display and included a Hall of Steel which was a giant staircase whose walls were decorated with trophy displays composed of 2,500 objects.

Port


The project was located on 60 hectares of reclaimed land adjacent to the existing Patrick Terminal at Port Botany. The project consisted of 1,850 metres of additional wharf face for five extra deep water shipping berths with depths up to 16.5 metres. There was dredging of approximately 7.8 million cubic metres of fill material in order to create shipping channels and berth boxes. Additional infrastructure included dedicated road access to the new terminal area and additional rail sidings providing rail access to the new terminal area. The development also included rehabilitation and expansion of Penrhyn Estuary to create a secure estuarine environment and community facilities including a boat ramp, look-outs and pathways.
